Thank you for that. Although I am against the Novus Ordo in general, I hold no grudges against conservative Novus Ordo parishes where people are praying and doing their best to be good Catholics. If that's where you are spiritually fed its none of my business.

On the other hand, those at Masses where what is pictured is going on, I don't believe they can be spiritually fed in any way conducive to the love of Jesus Christ.

Thank you Athanasius for publishing this picture! I have come from a very conservative novus ordo parish, and I guess I've been naive for a long time, because I was raised to dislike you stuffy, arrogant Traditionalists. Indeed, my novus ordo parish has been conducive to the holiness of the people that have taken the time to utilize the crumbs that they get, but it wasn't until I saw this picture in your blog that I realized what you all are fighting against! Truly, I never thought it was that bad. I am a changed person now.

You're welcome. I will post more stuff like that. I don't want this to be just another Traditionalist criticize the Church blog, though by and large i've headed that way.

The Joe missed the whole point (as he usually does. Are there logic classes at the seminary?), I was not claiming John Paul II is directly responsible in the form of orchestrating the nonesense in the picture. Actually his trusted advisor Cardinal Shoenborn was. The point as you aptly put it was the failure of John Paul II to discipline the wayward bishops of the Church. As Cardinal Stickler of Austria put it, "The Bishops do not obey him, they do not respect him." This was very sad but very true.

I believe that things like this could have and should have been prevented long before they had gotten this far out of line. If JPII had been strong enough to excommunicate heretical teachers like Hans Kung, discipline his wayward bishops, like the notorious Cardinal Mahony (who basically thinks he has as much authority as the Pope; I live in his Archdiocese) then perhaps things like this wouldn't have happened on a broader scale. You have to put an ax to the roots of eveil before they get to be too big to cut!
I think in the last 50 years or so, the pattern of parents not being able to control their children, because of their lack of daring to discipline, teachers not being able to excerise authority over their students, and the lack of leadership that JPII, our leader should have shown is a sad turn of events, but not a surprising one.
If everyone who posts on this blog (which I have found to be very entertaining and a confirmation of many of my own thoughts), would discipline themselves enough to do penance for these acts, make reparation for the outrages shown against God, for this irreverant behavior, pray the rosary daily LIKE MARY HAS ASKED FOR TIME AND AGAIN, these things may be snuffed out. Sad to say, there is a lot of talk, debate, exposing, and not enough action in a lot of our lives. Thanks Athanasius for that reparation prayer you posted.

Yes, because JPII was actually responsible for this Mass. In fact, he promoted it vehemently .... whatever. Quit blaming things on him just because you want him to be your scapegoat. Read Mediator Dei -- there were abherrations at the time of Pius XII, which he couldn't just 'put a stop to'. The pope doesn't have an army anymore.
